Online Audio Files Give eSight Tips for Starting a Home-based Business
Audio files of an October 27 phone conference about how to successfully start a home-based business are now available on eSight Careers Network at http://www.esight.org/index.cfm?x=1602.
Accessible by RealOne Player or Windows Media Player, the "Keys to Success for Starting a Home-based Business" tapes feature guest speaker Athena Williams, President/CEO of Athena Williams Inc.
Williams, a coach for entrepreneurs, talks about how to succeed financially and avoid costly mistakes as a business owner.
Before and during the conference, she received questions about opportunities, marketing and networking as a home-base business owner through the web site's Visualizing eSight facility at http://www.esight.org/forward.cfm?pid=110, a real-time interactive tool for members of eSight Careers Network.
When identifying opportunities, Williams says it's generally easier to sell to businesses than to individuals for online enterprises. "Identify your passion and a market need and how to best serve that need," she recommends.
In the tapes, she also describes a three-pronged marketing process for entrepreneurs:
1. Find what is important to your ideal client.
2. Identify that ideal client's challenges and develop solutions for those challenges.
3. Help your client make a decision about accepting your offer by first discussing the benefits and then presenting the features of your product or service.
In terms of networking, Williams offers this key recommendation: form an advisory board of qualified individuals who are interested in providing you with guidance for launching and growing a business.
eSight Careers Network is an online community which provides networking, forecasting and skill-building opportunities about career management for people with visual impairments and other physical disabilities.
The nation-wide eSight Phone Conference was made possible through a grant from the American Express Foundation (http://home3.americanexpress.com/corp/philanthropy/grantslist.asp).
