NIB Fellowship - Applications are Now Being Accepted
The Fellowship for Leadership Development, sponsored by National Industries for the Blind (NIB), is a two-year, salaried program that combines business-focused, on-the-job experience with formal management training.
Legally blind individuals who have an undergraduate degree, work experience, desire to travel and passion to become a business leader are invited to apply.
Fellows are selected by a committee based on academic achievement, experience, motivation, references, personal interviews and other supporting data.
Applications will be accepted until February 15, 2008.

Employment Opportunity with the Internal Revenue Service will be offered in Computer Programming Class in December 2007 at Lions World Services for the Blind.
An Enterprise Solutions Programming class will begin on December 3, 2007. Based on the national interest we have had thus far, this class will fill up fast! The latest date for evaluation will be November 5, 2007. This program is unique in offering a commitment for employment with the Internal Revenue Service before starting training or, if relocation is not possible, the knowledge to seek employment in a variety of companies.
The curriculum prepares clients to work in a wide range of programming environments including .NET developer environments and other application projects as well. Certification exams for Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) are offered through the program as well as JAVA instruction. Some prior programming experience is helpful, but not necessary to be successful in this course.
Qualifications for the general course include strong Braille skills or print reading of 100 wpm with good comprehension; high school diploma or equivalent; excellent keyboarding and assistive technology skills; high school knowledge of business math; strong logical reasoning ability. To be considered for employment with the IRS, four years of college or equivalent in work experience is required.
