To Disclose or Not To Disclose a Disability: A Workbook to Help Youth Decide
A new publication of NCWD/Youth, The 411 on Disability Disclosure: A Workbook for Youth with Disabilities, is now available online. The publication is designed for and by youth and adults working with them to learn about disability disclosure. This Workbook will help young people make informed decisions about whether or not to disclose their disability and understand how that decision may impact their education, employment, and social lives. Based on the premise that disclosure is a very personal decision, the Workbook will help young people think about and practice disclosing their disability. New Book Tells Career Success of Blind Deejay
Larry P. Johnson, blind since the age of six months, is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Speech. He earned his Master’s from La Universidad de las Americas in Mexico City. His professional background includes:
21 years as a Human Resources manager with SBC Communications.
22 years as a radio and television broadcaster in the U.S. and Mexico. He was the first blind American newscaster on Mexican television.
25 years as an internationally-recognized motivational speaker and workshop presenter in Mexico, Japan and the United States.
He is the winner of the 1998 national Ned E Freeman Award for Excellence in Writing and recently published his first book, "Mexico by Touch", a book about his experiences as a blind American deejay living and working in Mexico. The book is available in paperback from amazon.com and from major bookstores like Barnes and Noble and Borders. It is also available in braille and on Talking Book cassette from NLS.
