EASI is presenting a public Webinar Thunder RJ: A Screen Reader with Training Wheels

Date: Tuesday June 19, 2007
Time: 2PM EASTERN

Screen reading software that is really robust and gives the user nearly total control of almost all major software programs has to be complex and powerful. This also means that it is usually expensive. Most have demo versions to let people try them, but this Webinar will demonstrate an inexpensive beginner screen reader that comes on a USB drive and will run from that drive without being installed as part of the computer system. You can take it anywhere: to a friend's house or to a public library!

It is good for someone with learning disabilities or with limited vision. It could be great for a senior wanting mainly access to simple, public Web sites or to exchange email with grandchildren. It could be useful for a person who is blind but who only requires very limited computer access on a periodic basis.

It is NOT a substitute for the mainstream screen readers. It is like transportation using a bike instead of a car. There is a place for both forms of travel.
