Excellence through Challenging Exploration and Leadership (EXCEL)
WHAT: The EXCEL program provides blind graduating high school seniors and current college freshman a 5-week internship at three NASA Centers. Travel and living expenses will be paid for. Six EXCEL interns will be chosen from a nationwide search, with two additional students chosen as alternates.
WHERE: Two interns will be placed at each of three NASA centers--Goddard Space Flight Center (Greenbelt, Maryland), Johnson Space Center (Houston, Texas), and the Jet Propulsion Lab (Pasadena, California). A one-week orientation to the internship will take place at the NFB National Convention in Louisiville, Kentucky the first week of July.
WHEN: Orientation will begin on June 30th and the internships will end on August 14.
WHO: To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old at the beginning of the program and either a senior in high school who has been accepted to college or a current college freshman who is interested in pursuing a career in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field.
