Most Americans are aware that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was disabled, but few know details of his hidden life as a man completely paralyzed from the waist down--a situation not that different from the years of his presidency.

Host and historian Steve Gillon interviews people familiar with FDR's legacy seeking answers to complicated questions:

How did polio change FDR's character?

Did the experience with polio influence his policies?

Why did he feel the need to hide his disability?

Did he reveal his disability through coded metaphors in his speeches?

Could a disabled person be elected president today?

This exploration into the mind of a disabled president who transformed a nation and also himself will pique your interest in our 2-part series FDR: A Presidency Revealed.
