Bridges to Employment 2005
Date: June 1-3, 2005
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina at the Sheraton Raleigh Capital Center Hotel.
Description: This year Proyecto Visión is bringing its annual Bridges to Employment Conference for Latinos with Disabilities to the South. Providing a vast array of job connections and technology training opportunities, the conference is a national forum about issues concerning Latinos with disabilities.
Bridges to Employment is organized by the World Institute on Disability (WID) through Proyecto Visión – a National Technical Assistance Center established to connect Latinos with disabilities to the world of employment. The 2005 event is being developed in collaboration with local partners: the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and AgrAbility Program; El Centro Hispano; El Pueblo, Inc.; Cooperativa Latina; Partnerships in Assistive Technology; and the Pathways for the Future and Alliance of Disability Advocates Centers for Independent Living.
To advance the goals of the President’s New Freedom Initiative, Proyecto Visión’s staff provides training, capacity-building support and links to employers and service providers to connect Latinos with disabilities to jobs, training and technology. Proyecto Visión is sponsored by the Department of Education’s Rehabilitation Services Administration. This conference will build on the results of Bridges to Employment conferences in Chicago, IL (2004), New York, NY (2003) and Anaheim, CA (2002).
