RFB&D's 2005 National Achievement Awards

The Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Awards (SAA)

The SAAs, named for their late founder, are given to nine blind or visually impaired seniors who are attending an accredited four-year college or university.

Applicants must meet all five of the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Be legally blind;

  2. Be registered individually, or through a school, with RFB&D for at least one year prior to March 1, 2005;

  3. Have received, or will receive, a bachelor's degree from an
    accredited four-year college or university in the US or its
    territories between July 1, 2004 and June 30, 2005 (applicants need not plan to further continue their education);

  4. Have an overall academic average for their undergraduate years
    of 3.0 or more on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent, if an
    alternative grading system is used);

  5. Provide evidence of leadership, enterprise and service to
    others.
Three top winners will receive $6,000 each; three Special Honors winners will receive $3,000 each; and three Honors winners will receive $1,000 each.
