International Exchange Program to Japan

ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT TO APPLY for the International Exchange Program to Japan for Youth with Disabilities.

Mobility International USA (MIUSA) is currently seeking young people with disabilities from diverse cultural backgrounds to apply for an upcoming three-week international exchange program in Japan in July/August 2005.

Generous partial scholarships available. Deadline to apply March 15, 2005.

A sixteen-day exchange program to Japan with a focus on leadership through international volunteerism and cultural exchange. Participants will take part in discussions on disability rights and leadership with Japanese disability organizations, visit sites of historical and cultural interest in Japan, participate in workshops on traditional Japanese drumming and experience family customs, food and culture with members of the local community. Participants will also take part in a four-day international volunteer service project. American Sign Language interpretation and materials in alternative formats will be provided. Other
accessibility arrangements will be negotiated to ensure full participation.

Mobility International USA is dedicated to educating people with disabilities and related organizations about international exchange opportunities to increase the participation of people with disabilities in the full range of international volunteer, study, work and research programs to enhance their leadership skills and career prospectives.

Since 1981, MIUSA has led international exchange programs for people with and without disabilities in more than 80 countries including Azerbaijan, Russia, Japan, England, Costa Rica, Mexico, Germany, Uzbekistan, Australia, and China.
