Our History: The Associated Blind, Inc. is a privately funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit agency, located in New York City, that was founded in 1938 by a group of blind individuals as an organization promoting autonomy and self-determination.
Our Mission: The Associated Blind’s mission is to assist individuals who are blind, visually impaired or who have physical disabilities to become self-reliant and achieve financial independence through mainstream employment.
The Associated Blind carries out its mission to impart job development and career management skills to members of the disability community through its online service, eSight Careers Network - which was developed in response to expressed needs, interests and suggestions of people with disabilities.
Our Vision: Use the power of the Internet to connect people who are blind, visually impaired or physically disabled and open a dialogue between them and prospective employers about disability employment issues.
Our Goal: Provide networking, forecasting and skill-building opportunities for those with visual impairments and other physical disabilities who are dedicated to lifelong learning and who believe they are personally responsible for managing their own careers.
